Desert Meadows invited several veterans to the campus in honor of Veterans Day. After being treated to breakfast in the library, the current and former service members visited classrooms to discuss their military experiences. One of the special guests was a Korean War vet and great-grandfather to a Meadows student.
The Laveen Elementary School District offers Kids Klub Day Camp for days when school is not in session for children in Grades K-6. This fun-filled camp is held at Desert Meadows School, 6855 West Meadows Loop East.
The theme-based curriculum provides children with the opportunity to participate in social, creative, intellectual, and physical activities. The program also offers arts and crafts, fitness, cooperative games, and other hands-on activities.
Day Camp hours of operation are from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The fourth annual Laveen Winter Festival is scheduled for Friday, December 8, 2017. The event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Winter Festival will feature obstacle courses, games, activities, student performances, photo opportunities, holiday gift vendors and much more! Admission is free with tickets being sold for select activities.

Desert Meadows’ Student Council Committee held a Dads and Donuts event on November 3. Students could invite their dad, grandpa, uncle, brother or someone special to the event. Families joined us in the library for donuts and refreshments. Thank you to all who attended, we hope to see you again. Go Bobcats!

Desert Meadows hosted their second annual Staff vs Student Softball game. Staff and students were able to compete for the championship. The game was very close and in the last 10 minutes, the students lead the game. The final score was 5-4, making staff the winners for the second year in a row. Good job Bobcats!
The Arizona Cardinals brought their Gatorade Jr. Training Camp to Desert Meadows this morning. As a PBIS incentive, select students participated in a series of non-contact football drills following a motivational speech by a former player. To view photos from this fun event, visit our flickr page.
Laveen Elementary School District held a groundbreaking celebration for the David Glasser Athletic Complex on November 3. The complex will be built on the site of the old Laveen School at 5001 W. Dobbins.
The new athletic complex will include a football/soccer field and two baseball fields. It will serve the various youth ball clubs of Laveen.
The complex is named in honor of fallen Phoenix Police Officer David Glasser who was killed in the line of duty in 2016 while responding to a burglary call within the Laveen community.
